Prison Consultants Representing Inmates in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Sioux City and all other cities in Iowa
Iowa is what would be considered a “midwestern” state in the eastern half of the United States. It is smaller than most US states in land mass as well as population. Ranking 26th in area and 30th in population it is a state that does not just have dense cities everywhere you look. Currently, Iowa has a population of around 3 million people. Iowa has 9 State Prisons total including ones for both men and woman. Iowa has no Federal Prisons in the entire state. This is part due to a lack of Federal Crime and part due to the fact that the Bureau of Prisons did not decide to build inside the state. Prison consultants work all throughout the courts in Iowa and work in and out of the 9 prisons.
Des Moines Prison Consultants
Des Moines is the capital of Iowa and also the largest city. It has a population of around 200,000 people. Although some of Iowa is used for farming purposes, Des Moines is a place where you can see government buildings and high rises in the middle of the agricultural background. Although there are no prisons in Des Moines, the main detention facility is Polk County Jail. Polk County jail has an interesting policy, consistent with the Iowa Code, that actually charges inmates to stay in jail. If you have been convicted in court, at the end of your sentence you will be given a bill for your stay. It is an interesting thought process and it is clear that a lot of people may not be able to pay the bill, but their rationale is hopefully it will deter others from going to jail. If you sentenced are to Federal Prison in Des Moines you may end up anywhere around the country. That is where a prison consultant can help to recommend a prison that is close to home.
